Helping Vulnerable Households Save On Energy Bills
The Andrews Labor Government is connecting Victoria’s most vulnerable households with energy brokerage services, helping them to save up to $600 per annum.
Minister for Energy Lily D’Ambrosio today launched the Energy Brokerage Pilot, which will be delivered in partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence and connect 10,000 low income households with energy brokers to help them find and switch to better energy offers.
The service uses the Labor Government’s energy price comparator – Victorian Energy Compare – to help compare prices and take advantage of the $50 Power Saving Bonus.
Energy brokers will be available to help vulnerable Victorians use Victorian Energy Compare either over the phone, at special events or through home visits.
The pilot is available to Victorian households with low literacy, no or restricted computer access, English language difficulties or a lack of confidence using digital tools like Victorian Energy Compare.
As many switching services are only available in English, culturally and linguistically diverse households find it harder to locate better offers – and pay higher prices as a result.
