Labor Government Supports Uniforms And Books For Our Kids
An extra 25,000 students and their families will receive help each year to pay for school uniforms, shoes, books and stationery through State Schools’ Relief thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s $15.6 million commitment.
Premier Daniel Andrews today joined students, teachers and parents at Maryborough Education Centre to announce the good news.
The funding boost will enable SSR to increase the number of disadvantaged students receiving financial help, up from the 10,000 who benefited from the program last year to 35,000 this year.
The Labor Government is committed to supporting working families and making sure every student has every chance to reach their full potential. This includes helping parents with the costs of educating their children.
For 85 years, SSR has worked with government schools to provide uniforms and shoes to struggling families, helping more children to fully participate in education. It is the leading agency providing such assistance to students in Victorian government schools.
Schools can apply online to State Schools’ Relief at www.ssr.net.au/schools when they believe a student needs help with appropriate uniforms and footwear for school.
