READYS Awards Announced

Minister for Local Government Natalie Hutchins has congratulated this year’s READYS Award recipient Maroondah City Council for their work in engaging with young people in their local community.

Now in their third year, the Recognising Excellence Awards for Delivering Youth Services (READYS) recognise the work of local governments and community organisations in youth services, and were developed in partnership between the Victorian Local Government Association (VLGA) and Youth Affairs Council Victoria.

Ms Hutchins presented the award to Maroondah City Council for the Start the Conversation program, and  highly commended achievements for Greater Dandenong City Council for the IMPACT program and Whittlesea City Council for the Youth Equity Strategy.

Awards are presented in three categories;

  • The local government award,
  • The non-government, not for profit award (Community Organisations), and
  • The Danny Sandor READY for Excellence in Youth Work Practice (awarded to an individual in the Victorian youth sector).
