Returning To Work An Important Part Of The Recovery Process
The Andrews Labor Government is pleased to announce that this weekend, WorkSafe will launch a major public awareness campaign to highlight the key roles many Victorians play in helping injured workers get back to work.
The ability to return to work after sustaining an injury is absolutely vital to all Victorians.
This campaign is designed to encourage everyone in the process of returning to work, including workers, employers, family, friends and GPs, to view that getting back to work is an important part of the recovery process.
WorkSafe data shows that the longer an injured worker remains off work, the greater the chance they will never work again. It has also revealed:
- 60 per cent of injured workers off work for more than six months will be off work for more than a year.
- 17 per cent of injured workers that are off work for more than four weeks will be off work for more than a year.
Workplace safety is a key priority of the Andrews Labor Government, and so too is ensuring those who wish to get back to work after being injured have the best assistance possible.
The Campaign will run until the end of July across metro and regional TV, on radio, in print and online. It will be supported by street and cinema advertising and will appear in doctor surgeries, health centres and pharmacies.
There will also be targeted communications to injured workers through their agents, and to employers and GPs.
