Minister Moves To Bring Labour Hire Inquiry To Mildura
Minister for Industrial Relations, Natalie Hutchins, today announced that allegations of worker exploitation in Mildura will be investigated as part of the inquiry into labour hire and insecure work in Victoria.
The Andrews Labor Government’s inquiry will examine the labour hire industry, including the practices of rogue operators, the rights and employment status of workers and the impact of insecure work.
Ms Hutchins met with Sunraysia Trades and Labour Council President, Adam Algate, and Secretary Arthur Edge, to discuss the treatment of Mildura workers by labour hire companies.
Recognising the need to better regulate the labour hire sector, Ms Hutchins urged anyone who has been affected to provide input into the inquiry.
The Terms of Reference are currently being developed with further details, including the appointment of a chair, to be announced in the coming weeks.
